Words from Our Pastor

We believe as a congregation that we have reached a juncture in our journey which no longer affords a passive response to the ills of our community and our world. We are being called as a progressive community of faith to stand up to the misapplication and abuses of the Gospel of Jesus the Christ. We are called to re-examine God’s Words and discern its relevance for our lives today.  Furthermore, in doing so; we believe we will find a word of hope.

 Therefore, we seek to spread the liberating Gospel of Jesus the Christ by word and deed.  We seek to live out our faith in ways that affirm the humanity of all of God’s people. We seek to alleviate the injustice and oppression experienced by persons of color, the poor, same gender loving couples and others who have been disfranchised by our society and discouraged from living out their God given potential.  We will stand for and with those who are unable to speak or stand for themselves. Our belief in justice for all is informed by these words of scripture;

“Since all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God; they are now justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is Christ Jesus.” Romans 3: 23-25.

We also hold dear the words of the prophet Micah who asked the question, “What does the Lord require of you but to do justice, love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God.” Micah 6:8

The First Church of North Miami Congregational the United Church of Christ is open to all who seek a more intimate relationship with Jesus the Christ.

 No matter where you are on life’s journey you are welcome here.
